History

Behind every success there is often a story. The first steps towards Lazarus was taken during the complex but highly successful restructuring of the media group Stampen, where two of Lazarus’ four partners were responsible. As part of the restructuring process, formal corporate restructurings were filed for several of Stampen’s group companies. These processes were kept confidential for a period and were assigned the codename “Project Lazarus”, a name reflecting the ambition to resuscitate the Group. The restructuring was at the time Sweden’s largest ever, with 16 companies undergoing parallel corporate restructurings in several district courts. When the processes were completed in 2016/17, we realized that our team had gained first-hand practical experience in successfully resolving even extremely challenging situations and this realization became the starting point for Lazarus. Initially, we worked on practical advice and interim assignments focused specifically on complex turnaround situations, before making our first own acquisitions of companies in 2019. In early 2020, just before the global pandemic paralyzed the world, we established our current structure with external investors. Since then, Lazarus has completed 10 acquisitions. Two of our investments have been successfully divested and our current portfolio of eight companies continues to develop in the right direction.
